One of the most visited monuments in Jaipur is the Hawa Mahal, a unique semi-octagonal monument with 152 individual jharokhas or embellished windows, created to facilitate the voyeurism of royal women as they looked down from to the processions below. Then there is the Jantar Mantar, an observatory built by Sawai Jai Singh that was amongst the first of its kind. The City Palace is another popular destination, specially since a part of it has been converted into a museum housing rare and magnificent examples of miniature paintings, manuscripts, costumes, etc. And then of course, is the Amber Fort built in red stone and white marble by Raja Man Singh in the 16th century and completed by Sawai Jai Singh in the 18th century.
